Tips For Improving The File Folder System In Outlook

Your Microsoft Outlook account can be found teeming with large bundles of mails in the different email folders. The sorting of mails by your own into the folders of Microsoft Outlook can turn out to be a troublesome task. The rules may come in handy and may ease the stress a lot. However, manually moving the messages is quite necessary in most cases.

Availability of SpeedFiler utility

For easier manual message filing, an Add-on tool by the name SpeedFiler can be availed and this tool greatly enhances the feature's limitations that are there in Microsoft Outlook’ interface.

Limited memory

Only a limited memory of the previously used 10 folders will be available in the dropdown list by the name Move To. An array of features is made available with the SpeedFiler utility and a few of the different features are as follows.
  • File-in toolbar integration
  • Availability of folder search function
  • Classification of the outgoing message
Availability of file in toolbar

In Microsoft Outlook, a File In toolbar is available, thanks to SpeedFiler and with it, recently used folders can be easily availed. Therefore, the File In toolbar has a clear cut advantage than Move To dropdown menu. Users can easily search the folders just by entering the name. This is a very easy method and it greatly saves time.

Easily find folders

Sometimes the folder location may be very deep down in the hierarchy and it can turn out to be very difficult to find the exact location. By the use of the folder search function, you can easily locate the folder without any difficulty.

Just enter the name

With ease, you can easily reach a folder just by entering the name of the folder. Upon sending of a message, the easy classification of the messages is possible in a specific folder without the files being housed at the Sent Items folder by the SpeedFiler tool.

Thus, the SpeedFiler tool can really turn out to be highly beneficial for Outlook users and save the user’s valuable time. If users are not familiar with using the SpeedFiler tool, they may get help from the Outlook help desk. The Outlook help desk is very helpful and can easily resolve all your queries regarding the email folders in Outlook as well as the use of the SpeedFiler tool in Outlook.

Fixing MSVCR80.dll Error In Outlook

While opening the Microsoft Outlook application, you may sometimes get error messages that say- This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. According to Outlook tech support, such issues originate from the add-in that might have created its own outlook.exe.manifest file in the Outlook installation directory. You would have installed the add-in earlier in your computer.

For fixing such issues where you cannot start Microsoft Outlook application, you can follow these instructions provided by the Outlook tech support:

Deleting manifest file:
  • You can delete the outlook.exe.manifest file in the installation directory of the version of Outlook you are using in your computer. If you are using Outlook 2007, the location of the manifest file is: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12. If you are using 64-bit version of Windows the location is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12
Repair Office
  • After deleting the file, you need to run a repair on your Office installation program. Alternatively, you can also start Office Diagnostics by clicking on Start, All Programs followed by Microsoft Office, Microsoft Office Tools and then on Microsoft Office Diagnostics.
Check your add-ins
  • Sometimes even after restarting the Outlook application, you might see the same error message. This is because of the fact that some add-in would keep on changing this file back.
  • Here, you need to first disable all your add-ins and enable each one to identify the faulty add-in. After you see the add-in, which was causing such issues, you can either uninstall it or contact its vendor to see if an update exists for it.
Important! Do not download DLL from public DLL repository sites!
  • As stated by the Outlook tech support technicians, never try to download MSVCR80.DLL from any of the many on-line DLL download options available on the Internet. This is because in most of the cases. You will either get an old version or van infected one to download.
  • To fix issues where you cannot start Microsoft Outlook, you can get the original version of the program from the official website of Microsoft. You just need to download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 installer on your computer.
