Steps Involved
Before we begin the troubleshooting steps, it is necessary that you have the Windows Vista installation disc with you, as the startup repair tool runs from this disc.
- Insert the Windows Vista installation disc in your DVD drive and restart your computer. Go to the BIOS settings by clicking the F2 or DEL button during startup. Once you are in the BIOS, change the boot options and make CD/DVD as your computer’s first boot priority. Save the settings and exit the BIOS.
- When the computer starts, you will receive a message to press any key to boot from Disc. Press any key and your computer will boot from the disc.
- In the first screen, choose the options like language and input method. You should also select the currency and time. Once you finish with these steps, select the option Repair your computer.
- The above step will open a window with various System recovery options. You may choose the option to load the drivers, which you have troubles with, and select the option Next. This will start the repair process.
- The next window will give you the options for Startup Repair. Keep in mind that once you initiate this process, the computer restarts occasionally. It is advised that you do not abort the process in the between, and wait until the process completes.
- When the repair process finishes, you will find the option for System Restore. You may select a date to restore your computer if the repair process did not fix the issue.
