Windows XP can be termed as the oldest operating system in
use now. You may need to reinstall the Windows XP operating system if some
errors occur in the system files. You have two installation choices, one that
is called as the clean installation in which the files are installed to a fresh
partition. The second one is upgrade or in-place installation, where the OS is
installed in the current partition itself. It saves both time and space during
installation. If you follow the simple instructions from the Windows XP help team,
you can easily reinstall the XP operating system on your PC.
Instructions
- The first thing to do is to find the XP installation disk and then insert it into the optical drive of the system.
- Now restart the system by clicking on the Restart button at the left hand side of the Shut down window.
- Press any key on the keyboard when you see the prompt labeled Press any key to boot from CD to boot from the installation CD.
- The computer will now boot from the Windows XP installation disk rather than the hard disk.
- To launch the setup program in the disk, press the Enter key on the keyboard. Read the license agreement by scrolling down and then accept the agreement by pressing the F8 key.
- Press the C key in the keyboard to create a partition on your hard disk and when asked about the size on the disk, specify the size and press the Enter button. To continue with the installation, again press the Enter button.
- Now set the file system of
the partition as NTFS by selecting the option Format this partition with the NTFS file system and then press
Enter to continue.
- If you want to reinstall
the OS on the existing partition, select that partition and then press the
Enter button.
- The computer will now
restart and will load the graphical section of the installation process.
- Find the regional settings
for your area, set it in the installation window, and then click on the Next button to continue. Now the
system will ask you to input a name and an organization name, input those
and then click on the Next button.
- Press the Next button according to the
instructions displayed on the screen to finish the installation.
