Windows operating system by default hides the files with the “H” and “S” attribute, as these files are important in various aspects of perfect functioning of Windows. Among these files “H” attributes can be marked by a user or an application where as files with “S” attributes are marked by Windows itself. However these files can be displayed using an alternative setting inside Windows. Windows help centers have developed this solution to ease up your issue, following these steps will guide you to display the hidden files.

Sort out the tools menu from the Windows Explore and go for the tab named as “Folder options” and click on it. Once you have clicked on that tab a menu will crop down. You can also bring this window up by clicking twice on the “Folder options” tab from the “Control panel” window located in the startup menu on your desktop.
From the folder options click on the View tab and go for the “Show hidden files and folder” which lies inside the “Hidden files and folder”. These are the files that have “H” attributes. Now click on the “Hide protected operating system files (recommended)” box to uncheck it. This will enable the Windows to display the files with “S” attributes.
Click on the “OK” button to finalize the status of the files with “S” attributes.
Another option is to right click on the file which you hope to modify the attributes. Hitting on the right button will bring up the context menu. Now go for the “Properties command” and click on it to creep in the properties box. At this time uptick to eliminate the “H” attributes. Hit on the “OK” and “Apply” to finish off. But this method isn’t applicable for files with “S” attributes.
Using the attribute command is another proved option, type in “attrib/?” on the run box and hit on the “Enter” button. Now type in “attrib – s filename” from the run box and press on “OK” to modify the files having “S” attributes.
