Fixing Some Of The Problems In Your Outlook Express Mail Client

Unlike the MS Outlook mail client, which is part of the MS Office Suite, the Outlook Express mail client comes bundled with the Internet Explorer application. Therefore, Internet Explorer and the Outlook Explorer mail client work in sync, and some of the Outlook Express problems can be resolved by resetting the settings, updating it, and so on.

Many users are not aware of this connection between the Internet Explorer browser and Outlook Express. They pay no attention to the error messages shown for different Outlook Express problems, which asks them to change the IE settings.

Some tips for fixing your Outlook Express errors

In some cases, resetting the Internet Explorer application will fix some of the Outlook Express errors. To do this, go to the Internet Explorer Tools menu, click on Internet Options. This will launch the Internet Options window. There, go to the Advanced tab and there, select the Reset option given under the heading, Reset Internet Explorer Settings.

A warning message will pop up now, asking you to confirm this decision. Press the Reset button on this Window to confirm your decision. All the IE settings will now be reset to its default values. Now, go to the Outlook Express application and see if you are receiving the same error message.

If you are getting the same error message again, then you need to reinstall or update your IE browser. You need to go to the official Microsoft support website to download the latest compatible version of IE for your Windows operating system. The links for this will be there at the Microsoft support website.

Click on the Download link for the IE browser. Follow the instructions and the save the IE installer file to your system. Now, uninstall the old IE browser and run the downloaded IE installer file. After this, restart the system and then, go to the Outlook Express client once again to check if the error is still there.

Compact the old files in your Outlook Express. This is one of the best ways to fix some of the Outlook Express errors caused by the Folders.dbx file. Every now and then, compact the old files to prevent such errors.

If you are still having problems with the Outlook Express client, note down the error code and visit the Microsoft support page online. Here, using the error code, you can easily find the solution for fixing the Outlook Express error.

Firefox Drops Windows 8 Version Citing Lack Of Users

Mozilla, creator of the famous web browser Firefox, has revealed that it will not develop a separate version compatible with Windows 8 citing lack of users. Johnathan Nightingale, vice president of Mozilla Firefox, stated several reasons for first halting and then subsequently dropping the production of Mozilla Firefox for Windows 8, the primary reason being too much investment for a little or no impact.

Because of the changes in the operating system, Mozilla would have to develop a web browser from scratch, and besides that, there are very few users to test out the many bugs, which will prop up in the final product. Nightingale explained, “When I talk about the need to pick our battles, this feels like a bad one to pick: significant investment and low impact”.

Windows 8 market share hiked in September to 8.02% and since then dropped to 6% mark in November. Windows 8.1 currently has only 3.1% of the market share. Even if the acceptance rate is slower than anticipated, more users are bound to embrace it now, as the support for Microsoft Windows XP has ended. But this decision from Mozilla came as a surprise for everybody, as the company spokesperson were quite confident about overcoming all the hurdles they were facing to develop the browser for the newly released platform.

Interestingly, where Mozilla failed to perform, Google released a browser version, which can run on the modern system provided it is set as the default browser. Yet, because of the restrictions imposed by Microsoft, Chrome now has certain issues like not being able to support hardware acceleration and inability to work in high-resolution displays.

As for now, no third party browser developer other than Microsoft can build an application for the Windows Store and are restricted from creating metro style browsers. Such browsers can only execute if they were made the default browser on x86 or x64 systems, running the flawed operating system.

Note that the development of the browser is only paused at the moment, and Mozilla will still maintain the code it wrote. In case the platform becomes popular, they will restart the work and release a compatible browser. On one hand, users are commending Microsoft to release Microsoft Office suite on Apples digital store and on the other its restricting rival companies to launch product in its own platform, which a Mozilla lawyer has described as a potential Anti-trust issue. It’s quite complicated!

Apple Ends Support For Windows 7 On Mac Pro

As per the recent news, Apple has stopped the support for Windows 7 OS in the new Mac Pro. This has made Windows 8 the only option for Bootcamp on the most powerful Mac device. It is not yet clear why Apple removed Windows 7 from the mix, considering that the number of the Bootcamp users is quite low and the professional users tend more towards the Mac OS anyway.

This can be very much confusing when you look at the fact that Windows 8 is less of a professional personal computer OS and more of a personal mobile oriented operating system that is built primarily for the touch enabled devices. For the Mac Pro users, Windows 8 has never crossed their mind as something that they need in their life, much less than the Windows 7 OS anyway.

The major reason that many of the users are pointing out at is that since the Mac Pro comes with a number of new high-end technology, it does not have the drivers to support Windows 7 OS. This can be true, but we are unable to see companies like AMD and Intel not manufacturing drivers for the much popular version of Windows operating system. This could prove to be a boost for Microsoft as they struggle to get Windows 8 off the ground. The OS has not yet taken 10% of the market and many of the users has called it Vista 2.0. This is not because of its design, but it was doomed to fail due to the changes that Microsoft has introduced with the interface.

The Mac Pro may not sell the most units out of Apple’s Mac lineup, but probably Bootcamp will get the update to only allow Windows 8 OS. This can decrease the number of Bootcamp users or it can kick off a Windows 8 trend on Mac. This is because people still like to use some of the core services from Microsoft like Office. As we go further into the lifecycle of the computer, Apple is starting to gain more ground. Dell and HP has slumped in the past few years and Lenovo has stepped in as one of the major players in the personal computer market, making them one of the only manufacturers making money in the market.

If you wish to know more on the end of support for Windows 7 in Mac Pro, you can visit the Windows 7 vs Windows 8 page in the official Microsoft website. More details on this news are posted in the Windows 7 vs Windows 8 page.

Free Custom Domain Support In Outlook Stopped

In a surprise move, Microsoft issued a statement stating that it is stopping the support service of its custom domain server (for example name@yourchoice.com or example@example.com) immediately. This service was in existence since 2005 and the move was announced today on Windows live Admin Center page, which is the login screen for custom email addresses. Custom Domain customers shortly received a notification of the change via e-mail.

This server provides Outlook help for users to manage non-outlook.com addresses within the email environment of Microsoft Outlook. It has already stopped accepting new registrations. Though the free service has stopped, you can still avail a subscription plan: Small Business Premium Plan for just £100.80 per year. This move matches the plans of its archrival, Google, which closed its Google Apps free edition in 2008 and replaced it with Google Apps for business that is available at a subscription fee of $50 per year.

Microsoft Office 365, subscription basis cloud based productivity suite was introduced long after Outlook.com offered custom domain services. Ever since introduction, their functionalities overlap to a large extent. Being Microsoft, it is a wonder how they continued the free service for so long. Microsoft hopes to convince its users to take the $60-a-year Office 365 Small Business (which includes Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Lync Online).

At the moment, customers of Outlook.com are being lured away with a free three-month trial service of Microsoft Office 365 after which they have to buy a subscription to continue service.

The statement from Microsoft’s Media team announced, “Microsoft will offer existing Outlook.com custom domain customers a complimentary three month subscription to [Microsoft] Office 365 Small Business Premium. Current customers using custom domains with Outlook.com will be notified via email in the coming weeks with further details and instructions.”

Existing customers will still be able to add and remove addresses, but only for an unspecified time after which they will be removed. Outlook help team believes that this service will be functional for three to four more months. Thereafter, only native domain extensions (of Microsoft itself) will be supported on the Outlook.com email service.

Although no rumors were afloat, there were few tell tale signs that this move was in the cards. From the recent addition of Microsoft Office 360 sign up link under the sign-in button of Outlook.com to the limited services allowed by the free account; these clues should have put some light on the future developments of Microsoft.

Tips For Improving The File Folder System In Outlook

Your Microsoft Outlook account can be found teeming with large bundles of mails in the different email folders. The sorting of mails by your own into the folders of Microsoft Outlook can turn out to be a troublesome task. The rules may come in handy and may ease the stress a lot. However, manually moving the messages is quite necessary in most cases.

Availability of SpeedFiler utility

For easier manual message filing, an Add-on tool by the name SpeedFiler can be availed and this tool greatly enhances the feature's limitations that are there in Microsoft Outlook’ interface.

Limited memory

Only a limited memory of the previously used 10 folders will be available in the dropdown list by the name Move To. An array of features is made available with the SpeedFiler utility and a few of the different features are as follows.
  • File-in toolbar integration
  • Availability of folder search function
  • Classification of the outgoing message
Availability of file in toolbar

In Microsoft Outlook, a File In toolbar is available, thanks to SpeedFiler and with it, recently used folders can be easily availed. Therefore, the File In toolbar has a clear cut advantage than Move To dropdown menu. Users can easily search the folders just by entering the name. This is a very easy method and it greatly saves time.

Easily find folders

Sometimes the folder location may be very deep down in the hierarchy and it can turn out to be very difficult to find the exact location. By the use of the folder search function, you can easily locate the folder without any difficulty.

Just enter the name

With ease, you can easily reach a folder just by entering the name of the folder. Upon sending of a message, the easy classification of the messages is possible in a specific folder without the files being housed at the Sent Items folder by the SpeedFiler tool.

Thus, the SpeedFiler tool can really turn out to be highly beneficial for Outlook users and save the user’s valuable time. If users are not familiar with using the SpeedFiler tool, they may get help from the Outlook help desk. The Outlook help desk is very helpful and can easily resolve all your queries regarding the email folders in Outlook as well as the use of the SpeedFiler tool in Outlook.

Babylon Toolbar Removal Steps

Nowadays, every other free software program has a third party toolbar on offer. Many of these toolbars are installed in your computer without your permission or knowledge. Of all the toolbars, the Babylon toolbar is one of the most persistent and troublesome out there. The Babylon toolbar removal instructions are very popular in the Internet. The guides are usually detailed but the users sometimes find it difficult to remove the Babylon toolbar from their web browsers or reverting their home page and the search engine changes of the toolbar on the computer.

The Programs And Features Control Panel applet lists the Babylon toolbar on Internet Explorer and the Babylon Object Installer, but uninstalling these may not restore the search engines and the home page. This article explains the Babylon toolbar removal process in detail. You can follow these steps carefully to get rid of the Babylon toolbar and all instances of the toolbar from your computer.

Removing Browser Manager

  • Turn on your computer and press Ctrl, Shift and Esc keys simultaneously to bring up Windows Task Manager. In the Task Manager window, find out the browsemngr.exe process and then suspend it.
  • Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Browser Manager\x.x.x.x\{somecode}\ and then delete the executable files here.
  • Press Windows and R keys together to bring up the Run box and then type in regedit.
  • Go to the key HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlset\services, and then find the Browser Manager subkey here and then hit on the Enter key.
  • Navigate to HKLM\Software\ and then delete the Browser Manager from here.
  • As the next step, delete the dll from HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\Appinit_Dlls
  • After doing the above steps, restart the computer and then delete the browser manager folder.
These are the simplest steps to delete the Babylon toolbar from the computer. This toolbar is very persistent and removing it from Add or Remove programs will not delete all the instances of the program from your computer. In such a situation, you can make use of any third party browser removal tools to get rid of all the instances of the program. If you need further help on the toolbar removal process, you can contact our tech support team.

They will be able to help you finish the steps successfully without encountering any errors. You can also refer to the toolbar help modules that are posted in the official Microsoft website to know more on the toolbar removal steps.
