Exporting Emails And Contacts In Windows Live Mail

When you add an email account to the Windows Live Mail, the messages are saved automatically and so is its synchronizing when the account is added again for any reason. Windows Live support page online will be worth checking out in case you need more information on this. But, here are a few simple steps that you can implement.

Things To Remember

Create a folder before you start importing the email messages. Create a folder in a location that you prefer and the emails exported will be available in this folder created. You will have to sign in with the Windows Live Email id for syncing with the calendar. Taking a backup of the calendar items is not allowed.

When you sign in with the Windows Live Mail Id, then the synchronizing of contacts is done automatically, if you are not signing in then you will have to synchronize the contacts manually. While importing various contacts see that you do not use .vcf and instead use .csv, to avoid errors.

If the account is POP3, then you will have to look into the Advanced Tab to check if the message has been removed from the server.

Exporting Email Messages In Windows Live Mail
  • Search for Mail in the list from the Windows Live account. Click on the Windows Live Mail option. On the upper left corner, you will find the File menu, click on that and then click on Export Mail option. From the following menu, choose Email Messages.
  • As an Export Format, choose the Microsoft Windows Live Mail. Now click on Next and then click on the Browse option. Now open the folder, where you like to store the email messages. Before you click on Next check if the folder is empty or not.
  • After that click on the Folder where you have decided to export the messages and click on Next. Click on the Finish option, when you get the Success message.
Exporting Contacts
