- Launch Microsoft Outlook
- Once the Outlook program comes up, select the option Tools and then Account Settings.
- In the window for Account Settings, choose the tab E-mail and then New.
- The above step will open the window for Add New E-mail Account. Mark the option Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP and then click Next.
- Mark the box next to Manually configure server settings or additional server types and choose the button Next.
- Choose the option Internet E-mail in the next window and click Next.
- Enter the details like Your Name, E-mail Address etc. under the heading User Information.
- Choose the Account Type as POP3 from the drop down box.
- In the field for Incoming mail server, enter pop3.xtra.co.nz.
- The Outgoing mail server (SMTP) should be send.xtra.co.nz.
- Enter your Yahoo!Xtra User Name and Password under the heading Logon Information.
- Choose the option Remember Password.
- Select the option More Settings and this will open the window for Internet E-mail Settings.
- Choose the tab Outgoing Server and mark the option My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
- Mark the option Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
- Go to the tab Advanced.
- Mark the option This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL).
- The above step will automatically change the Incoming server (POP3) number to 995. If it does not, manually enter 995 in the box.
- Select SSL in the drop down box for Use the following type of encrypted connection.
- In the field for Outgoing server (SMTP), enter 465 as the port number.
- Mark the option Leave a copy of messages on the server, if you do not want to remove the emails from the server.
- Select the option OK and then Next in the window for Add new e-mail account.
- Choose the option Finish to complete the Outlook email setup.
